Summer in the Gulf makes a garden unusable by mid-morning. A foldable pool is the cheapest way to make outdoor space bearable again, and unlike a rigid frame it packs away when the season ends.

What it does

• Thick PVC walls in 2, 3 or 4 layers. More layers means more rigidity and a higher wall that holds shape when full.
• Folds flat for storage. Deflates into a bundle that fits a cupboard rather than needing garage space.
• Sizes from 120cm to 260cm. Small sizes suit toddlers on a balcony; larger sizes take several children or an adult sitting.

Choosing a size

120cm suits one small child. 150–180cm suits two or three children. 210–260cm gives adults room to sit and cool off. Larger pools take considerably longer to fill and empty — worth planning where the water will drain.
