Description
Sprays and coils work, but nobody enjoys sleeping in a room that smells of insecticide. A UV trap does the job silently and leaves nothing in the air, which is why they have largely replaced plug-in repellents in bedrooms and nurseries.
How it works
- UV light draws insects in. Mosquitoes and small flies are attracted to the wavelength, then trapped inside rather than repelled elsewhere in the room.
- No chemicals, no smell. Nothing sprayed, nothing burned — usable in a closed bedroom overnight.
- Silent running. No zapping crack, so it will not wake you.
- Compact. Sits on a bedside table, windowsill or shelf.
Getting the most from it
Run it in a dark room — UV competes badly with other light. Place it away from where you sleep, not beside your pillow: the point is to draw insects toward the trap and away from you.
Specifications
- Weight: ~0.5 kg · Power: mains
- Chemical-free operation
Traps are most effective against mosquitoes and small flying insects in enclosed rooms. They are not a substitute for screens on windows, and no trap eliminates every insect.
